Woman who has lost 70lb plans lockdown marathon to boost mental health charity in Milton Keynes

A woman who has lost 70lbs in weight plans to raise pounds in cash for a mental health charity that has helped her.

Kate Leech is walking the equivalent of a 26.2 mile marathon over the next month with the aim of raising at least £250 for Rethink Mental Illness.

The charity has provided invaluable help to her in coping with her own problems.

"They have helped me hugely when I needed them through their groups based in Milton Keynes," she said.

Kate is also hoping to get fit and improve her stamina.

"Walking isn't fun to me so it's a big undertaking I'm also overweight so it's to help me lose some lbs. I've already lost nearly 5 stone. Before there was no chance I was able to do it ."

She no longer needs to attend Rethink groups but still chats with other members of the charity's Facebook page.
