The bill featured 16 acts of varying experience - some were seasoned performers, while some had never been on a stage before.

Included in the night’s programme were two bands, a ukulele playing singer and a poet with an inspirational reading on prejudice and injustice, entitled ‘Still I Rise’.

Audience members were also treated to a piano solo and a rousing rendition of the Golden Globe Award-winning song ‘This is Me’, from the film The Greatest Showman.

Headteacher Andy Squires said: “I must applaud the students for taking the plunge and performing at Denbigh School’s newest event. From soloists to duets and bands, the talent at Denbigh is clear to see and the performers truly engaged the audience. Denbigh has not hosted an Open Mic Night before, but it proved an ideal opportunity for students to showcase their talents in a relaxed and positive environment, especially for those students who had never performed in front of an audience.”
