A CHEF from Paris House in Woburn has picked up a top gong at the Hi-Life Dining Awards.
Phil Fanning, head chef at the popular restaurant picked up the ‘Best Chef’ prize at the ceremony on Friday, February 3, in Manchester.
Paris House, set in the grounds of Woburn Abbey, is Bedfordshire’s only Michelin-starred restaurant.
Phil went head-to-head with Tom van Zeller, Enzo Mauro and Christopher Cleghorn in the final cook-off competition, filmed at Dawnvale’s recently launched North West Design Centre’s theatre kitchen.
And he had an imposing juding panel to impress in order to take the crown – Elizabeth Carter, editor of the Good Food Guide and the Daily Telegraph’s food writer and restaurant critic Matthew Norman were joined by Hi-Life member and sponsor Denise Jones of Dawnvale to judge the cook-off final.
Lisa Lund, Hi-Life’s commercial director, said the level of competition was very high this year.
She said: “The awards were a fantastic showcase of the very best in dining excellence and congratulations to all our winners and short-listed entries.
“The calibre of participants in this year’s competition has been exceptionally high.”
