PJ Care’s Day Opportunities Centre, based in Bletchley, is opening its doors for a May celebration this month to show off its incredible services to the local community.

On Monday anyone wanting to find out more about the facility is welcome to come and join them for an afternoon of fun and activities.

The session starts with The Local Community Voices Choir giving a performance at 1.30pm. This will be followed with a variety of activities throughout the afternoon, including ball games, hand therapy, arts and crafts sessions and a fly fishing demonstration. The Milton Keynes Rugby Club first team players will also be supporting the event and will be coming along to meet some of the clients and to join in the activities.

Sue Bowering, Centre Manager said: “We are really proud of our Day Opportunities Centre and the facilities we offer, we provide a safe and relaxed atmosphere for people with physical and neurological disabilities to come and be independent, have fun, learn new skills and make friends. It also allows the hard-working carers and families some time to themselves. The Open Day will be a good example of the activities we can offer and hopefully everyone will have lots of fun.”

PJ Care Day Opportunities Centre opened in October 2011 and offers a range of tailored activities including healthy living advice, personal care sessions, therapy sessions and social interaction for 18-65 years olds with neurological and physical disabilities. Existing resources include an accessible kitchen, craft areas, relaxation area, gym area, physiotherapy area, occupational therapy area, massage and aromatherapy area, computer and internet access and garden area.

The session is open to anyone interested in the service, and they already have 30-40 attendees including council commissioners external agencies, local therapists, charities, clients and their families ‘and carers.
