Police identify bus passengers who may have witnessed assault on pensioner

Police officers have identified 'a number of people' they want to speak to about a disturbing assault of a pensioner on a bus.

The assault happened on the number two bus travelling from CMK to Newport Pagnell.

Two men got on the bus at the food centre stop and assaulted an elderly fellow passenger.

The man was punched three times to his face, causing him to collapse to the floor with visible facial injuries, say police.

The bus continued to Newport Pagnell, where the offenders and the victim all disembarked.

The incident was reported to police by concerned fellow passengers - but officers did not know the identity of the victim.

Police gathered CCTV images from the bus, showing the faces of the travellers.

They are this week making “good progress” in identifying people.

PC Linford Baxter said: “This was a particularly nasty and apparently unprovoked assault on an elderly man on a bus in central Milton Keynes. We are keen to track down the person or people responsible and also the victim in order to check on his welfare.

The incident happened at around 1pm on Saturday 16 January.

Anybody with information should call the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry centre on 101.
