Police to investigate 'racially aggravated' offence after tense council meeting in Milton Keynes

Video footage of the row after a Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council meeting was posted on our website yesterday, and now police have confirmed they are investigating.

Officers were called to a disturbance at the meeting, at Queensway Methodist Church in Bletchley, at 7.40pm on Tuesday.

It was reported to the force that a member of the public had barged into the meeting and there was a verbal altercation. The meeting was abandoned.

The Milton Keynes Neighbourhood Policing Team is carrying out an investigation into an alleged offence under the Public Meeting Act in relation to the disruption of the proceedings.

The team is also investigating a report of a racially aggravated public order offence, following an allegation that racist comments were made outside the building.

Inspector Michael Morland, of the Milton Keynes Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: "We will not tolerate hate crime within our communities. Reporting any information to us means we can take positive steps and help to prevent it from happening to someone else.
