Police launch community engagement initiative in Bletchley

The operation, which will go under the banner of Operation Dispersal 2, is also providing high visibility policing presence with the intention of working with the local community and engaging with young people at schools and youth clubs.

During this initiative, the local neighbourhood team will be visiting residents and encouraging them to sign up to the local policing areas digital communication accounts such as Twitter.

The initiative will also seek to gather intelligence about unreported criminality to focus on the individuals who engage in disruptive behaviour that has a detrimental effect on the community.

Today (December 19) is the first stage of the operation, when officers and PCSOs from the local Bletchley neighbourhood teams will be knocking on doors asking residents about their concerns.

This will initially take place at Serpentine Court, before being rolled out across the Lakes Estate.

There will be also be a ‘Have Your Say’ meeting at the Warren Centre, in Serpentine Court, on January 14 between 11am and 1pm, when members of the community will be able to voice any issues and meet members of the local neighbourhood team.

PC James Elton, said: “Today we will be visiting residents at their homes in Serpentine Court, letting them know that we are here for them to speak to if they like, while making a specific effort to increase awareness of and subscription to our key social media platforms.”

Sgt Neil Taylor, added: “We recognise that there is a difference between what is reported to the police and what is not reported.

“There are individuals committing crime and we want to catch them and deal with them effectively.

“Our aim is to provide the whole community with as many ways of contacting us and reporting criminality as possible.

“The more we are told, the more we will do and criminals should be aware that their behaviour will not be tolerated.”
