Police officers save woman's life after closing A5 at Central Milton Keynes yesterday

The person at the centre of the city's A5 closure yesterday (Tuesday) is now safe, say police.

Officers stopped all traffic in both directions of the CMK A5 junction after receiving a call about a person tragically threatening to jump off a bridge.

A police spokesman said: "Police were called following a fear for welfare incident involving a woman on the A5, Central Milton Keynes."

He added: "Officers attended the scene and put a road closure in place in order to ensure public safety.

"The woman has since been made safe and the road closure has been lifted."

It is understood city mental health services are now involved.
