Police volunteer from Milton Keynes honoured for 20 years service

Daphne Capp was presented with a long service certificate at Milton Keynes police station where she has helped the criminal justice department since 1996.

Daphne arrives at the station at 7am every Tuesday, spending the morning supporting officers and staff by assisting with the interview library.

Daphne said: “I admire the police. We depend on them so much. I wanted to be part of the service, so that’s why I joined as a volunteer.

“I get great satisfaction knowing I am helping the community. I would advise anyone considering a voluntary role with the police to have a go.

“The people I work with are so friendly and happy, and have been superb. Thank you to everyone who has made my time here so enjoyable.”

Citizens in policing development manager Julie Pink, said: “Daphne’s contribution to Thames Valley Police is priceless.

“To have given 20 years to supporting our officers and staff, and in turn, the wider community is an amazing testament to her dedication and selflessness.

“Thames Valley Police do not underestimate the value that volunteers like Daphne bring to the police and the community by getting involved and I would like to express my personal thanks to Daphne for all that she has done.”

Thames Valley Police currently has over 1,200 volunteers who perform dozens of different roles across the Force from supporting our officers, engaging with the local community and even helping to raise our next generation of police dogs.

From cadets to special constables to police support volunteers like Daphne, they all play a vital role in helping to keep Thames Valley a safe place to live, work and visit.
