Nick Clegg’s speech to his fellow Liberal Democrats did not make the desired impression on one local councillor at last week’s party conference, as Jenni Ferrans appeared to fall asleep when the Deputy Prime Minister took to the stage.
Ms Ferrans, who has sat on Milton Keynes Council since 2006, seemed to be sleeping when caught by the television cameras during his speech.
The Liberal Democrat conference has been taking place in Glasgow from October 4-8.
When Ms Ferrans called the Citizen we asked if she had been up late because of nightmares about Conservative plans to opt out of the Human Rights Act.
She said: ““It’s a shame you didn’t ask about what I did do at the conference.
“Councillors go to these events on our holidays, and most people don’t get followed by cameras when they are on holiday.
“I was determined to do something about affordable housing in Milton Keynes while at conference, and spoke at several debates. It is something really important in Milton Keynes and across the country.”
