Members of a slimming club have raised pounds for charity by shedding pounds in weight.
Milton Keynes-based Cambridge Weight Plan consultant Fran Soleilhac set her slimming customers a fundraising challenge over the summer.
The idea was that Fran would donate £1 in cash to Milton Keynes Hospital Charity’s Leo’s Appeal for every 1lb of weight lost by her clients.
In just four weeks, the slimmers managed to shift an impressive amount of weight and raise £400.
One slimmer lost 23lbs in his first week , while many others lost over a stone during the four-week Cambridge Weight Plan, which provides flexible weight loss programmes for women and men.
Fran learned about Leo’s Appeal after joining Women In Enterprise and meeting Julia Rogerson, a voluntary fundraiser for the appeal. Leo’s Appeal is the charity of the year for Women In Enterprise.
Run by Milton Keynes Hospital Charity, Leo’s Appeal helps to make a difference to local children and their families by raising funds for the children’s wards at Milton Keynes Hospital.
The appeal will help redevelop areas on the war, making them more child and family friendly.
Fran was delighted to present a cheque to play assistant Lucy Sparks on the children’s ward last week.
The money raised will go towards the refurbishment of the chair-beds which sit next to each child’s bed and which allow parents to stay on the ward with the children overnight.
