The annual event, which will run from midday in The Square, was established 28 years ago, and brings all parts of the community together to create lanterns and join the carnival atmosphere to parade the Victorian streets.

Highlights this year include: giant willow and paper creations from Bushfield and Wyvern Schools, The Square will be lit and decorated by Greenleys First School, and an after school club at Greenleys Junior School will set the streets alight.

The air will be filled with live music from Wolverton Town Band, Rock Choir and from street bands Toque Tambor, Bushfield School and Lobo Tren.

Free childrens’ activities, circus skills workshops and performances from Concrete Circus as well as a Craft and Food Festive Fayre from midday will provide an afternoon of family fun.

There is still time to create a lantern for the parade. Materials can be purchased from Wolverton shops and volunteers will run the last of four workshops this Sunday between 2 and 5pm at The Old Bath House, Wolverton.
