Nonagenarian Paula Hartwell – founder of Bletchley’s Senior Citizens Centre – was among VIP guest at the opening of its newly-refurbished premises in Westfield Road. She was joined by Milton Keynes Mayor Cllr Keith McLean and MK South MP Iain Stewart.
Affectionately known as the ‘Rest Centre,’ it’s the subject of a renaming competition with a £100 prize for the winner. Secretary Irene Foster explained: “We’re hoping to appeal to the wider community. “We need new blood in the form of volunteers and more visitors to this little haven in Westfield Road. Afternoon activites include whist, bingo and crafts. Why not pop in?”
