Proms in the Park wows music lovers in Milton Keynes

More than two and a half thousand fans celebrated the night of the classics.

MKCO, under the baton of their musical director, Damian Iorio, thrilled the audience with a repertoire of popular classics that had everyone on their feet.

The bar was raised again when Soprano Jeni Bern took to the stage with her sparkling performance of Puccini’s O Mio Babbino Caro.

The extraordinary music and sound quality thrilled throughout the concert, the first half climaxing with the pace of the William Tell Overture.

Later, there was thunderous applause as the Orchestra launched into the Dambusters March and everyone bobbed along to the Fantasia on British Sea Songs.

Jeni Bern made a grand entrance to the stage, in a spectacular union flag sequinned dress, to lead the ecstatic audience in Rule Britannia, Jerusalem and a jubilant version of Land of Hope and Glory, which was linked to a magnificent firework display.

“With only one and a half hours rehearsal possible, due to the afternoon wind and rain, I couldn’t be more proud of the stunning performance from Damian and our professional musicians,” said chairman of MKCO Marian Livingstone.

“Coping with that weather through set up and rehearsal is a testament to the strength of our partnership with The Parks Trust,” she added.

Proms in Campbell Park will be back Friday 18th August 2017 as a main event attraction in the MK50 anniversary celebrations.
