Property development firm is fined thousands for dumped waste
Following complaints from the public, enforcement officers from MK Council’s Environmental Crime Unit visited North Second Street in January this year.
They found construction waste from the redevelopment of Platinum House had covered the parking bays at the front of the building, and was also spilling onto public lands.

High winds were blowing the lighter materials along a footpath to the side of the building.
On Friday, MK Magistrates heard the company, North Second Street Ltd, had issues with clearance of the waste over the Christmas period, but were unaware of the scale of the problem.
The Kent based firm pleaded guilty to one count of breaching their duty of care with regard to waste.
”All businesses have a legal duty of care to ensure that they look after their waste properly and have it taken away by an authorised waste carrier,” said Environmental Crime Unit team leader Pete Roberts.

“In this instance, North Second Street Ltd failed to take all reasonable steps to ensure their waste couldn’t escape their control and magistrates have punished them with the maximum fine available,” he added.
