A CITY MP sported a unique look in the House of Commons last week as he promoted the work of the armed forces.

City MP Mark Lancaster, who served in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Kosovo, helped promote national ‘wear you uniform to work day’ by wearing his TA uniform to work in the House of Commons.

Pictured with The Speaker of the Commons, Buckingham MP John Bercow and fellow TA Officer Desmond Swayne MP, Major Lancaster was one of thousands of Reservists across the country from all three services to take part in this years special day, the fourth such event.

Aimed at raising the profile of the Reserve Forces ahead of this weekend’s Veterans Day, Mr Lancaster was more than pleased to join in.

He said: “I think many people will be surprised to see work colleagues in uniform as the probably had no idea they were members of the Reserve Forces.

“It also clearly demonstrates that members of the Reserve are also Members of the community and at a time when nearly 10 per cent of those on operational service in Afghanistan and elsewhere are members of the Reserve it is right that we should recognise their contribution.”
