THIS month Frosts Garden Centre at Woburn Sands, launches a gigantic challenge for children across Milton Keynes to grow the biggest pumpkin in the city in time for Halloween.

Schools, scouts, brownies and youth clubs are being invited to take up the challenge as part of the centre’s annual push to encourage people to ‘Grow Your Own’.

Group leaders can visit their local centre, and pick up a FREE pack of special pumpkin seeds, then the growing begins.

The pumpkins will be returned plump and ready to the local centre by October 21, ready for viewing and judging by the general public at the centre’s Autumn Festival on October 27 & 28.. The winner will receive a wheelbarrow full of Frosts’ goodies.

James Frosts, managing director at Frosts Garden Centres, said “We are delighted to launch another initiative in our aim to try and get children of all ages to learn the importance of growing their own produce. Growing the largest pumpkin is going to be a challenging task, so children can enter individually or as part of a group or entire school. I look forward to seeing the entries in October.”

The challenge is just part of Frosts’ Grow Your Own campaign which was launched by the Frosts group across all four centres; look out for further activities throughout the year.
