STUDENTS and teachers of Greenleys First School traded their usual clothes for pink alternatives in aid of Breast Cancer Research.

A special ‘Wear it Pink’ day saw the halls of the school transformed into a sea of pink on Friday, October 19. Both students and staff took part in the fundrasing event, all in support of the national breastcancer charity. Funds were raised throughout the day through the sale of cakes, which had been made by staff members and were sold for 50p each.

The money collected from students and staff, who each paid £1 to dress in pink, also went towards Breast Cancer Research.

Breast cancer accounts for nearly a quarter of all cancer cases among women worldwide.

In total the staff and students at Greenleys managed to raise a grand total of £156 for the charity.

Sue Beveridge, office manager at Greenleys First School, said the event was one of best events they had run and that they were “thrilled” with the efforts of all involved.
