Pupils awarded for attending road safety event

Mayor Councillor Keith McLean handed over the prize at Walton High School last week.

Schools which have attended every year of the Safe Drive Stay Alive (SDSA) event between 2006 and 2015 were in with a chance of winning.

The presentation was also attended by representatives from Thames Valley Police and Bucks Fire and Rescue who also take part at SDSA to teach young people about road safety.

SDSA is produced by a road safety partnership including Thames Valley and Hampshire Police, local councils and emergency services.

Each partner has been working for years to reduce the number of people dying on the roads.

SDSA has hosted 157 performances to around 126,000 people since it began in 2006.

Milton Keynes pupils from local secondary schools attend either a morning of afternoon session which includes videos of road traffic collision footage plus accounts from people who are involved including police officers, paramedics and fire fighters, family and friends and drivers or passengers from the crash.

Each person gives a real account of what they’ve seen, heard and felt about the experience to show young people how road traffic collisions affect lives.
