Great British Bake Off favourite Mary Berry whipped up some excitement among homebaking fans at a book signing this week.

She stopped off at WH Smith in central Milton Keynes on Thursday to sign copies of her autobiography, Recipes for Life.

The queen of the kitchen met the queen of romantic comedy fiction as best-selling city author, and keen cake maker, Carole Matthews queued up to chat to the food writer and television presenter.

Carole said: “Mary was an absolute delight.

“I bought two of her Christmas Collection books and her autobiography, Recipe for Life.

“She is an incredible woman and a great role model, who has endured some terrible lows in her life.

“I can’t wait to get reading and I also gave her one of my books too, which she was thrilled about.

“She asked me to sign it, which was a real honour for me, so I signed it from me and all my readers as we all love to follow The Great British Bake Off on Facebook and Twitter.”

Carole is celebrating continued chart success with her latest book ‘Calling Mrs Christmas’, which is currently in The Sunday Times Bestseller List for the sixth week running.

As Christmas approaches, edible decorations and seasonal baking are top of everyone’s ‘to-do’ list and Carole recommends Mary’s tasty treats.

Carole added: “I am a very keen baker and Mary’s recipes never fail.”
