Milton Keynes & North Bucks CAMRA branch hosted the annual Milton Keynes Concrete Pint Beer Festival 12th to 15th October 2011 which was a tremendous success.
The festival which was held at a new central location, The Buszy, Central Milton Keynes had 1538 people attend which was almost double last years attendance
The festival finished at 10:55pm on Saturday night when the last 6 pints were given away, making the festival a total sell-out despite an increase in beers available from the previous year. 5472 pints of beer, cider and perry were consumed throughout the four days at an average of 3.56 pints per person. The beer of the festival, as voted for by customers was Brodie’s Hackney Red IPA.
Over the 4 days the festival was manned by approx. 40 members of CAMRA, all of whom volunteered their time for free.
Attendees visited from all corners of the UK. Celebrities Jo Whiley, Harry Enfield, the Milton Keynes South MP (Iain Stewart) were amongst the customers.
During the festival, attendees were entertained by 4 local groups plus 1 group from Birmingham University. There was also a 2 hour live broadcast by MKFM radio. Following the positive feedback regarding the brand new festival website which ensured customers had up to date information on beer lists, the local CAMRA branch are looking to expand next year also with a twitter feed.
“All the hard work was worthwhile due to the fantastic feedback about all aspects of the festival this year. We are already looking at planning next years’ event….even bigger and better!” Doug Dillow, Festival Organiser
