MIDLANDS quartet Max Raptor issued their latest single Carolina at the tail end of February and promptly hit the road to promote it.

This Saturday, the band who have stage-shared with everyone from The Darkness to Dillinger Escape Plan, roll into Northampton’s Roadmender.

Tell us about the first record you bought

I think it was Red Hot Chili Peppers, Blood Sugar Sex Magik. An unbelievable record, with so many amazing tracks on there.

An album you can’t live without, and why

Black Junk by Exit_International, a brand new band from Wales but this album is mental.

If you ever feel the need to drive a truck through a tea room this is the soundtrack

INXS, Mystify.

What about your favourite artist of all time.

What’s the attraction?

That’s too hard. There are plenty of old-timers we love and listen to.

We played with a band we have loved right from the start of their careers, which was a dream come true and they took us on tour right at the start of our careers.

For me it’s Billy Talent from Canada just because of what they did for us and because they were the soundtrack to our roadtrips when we first started driving...

Therapy? at the Old Sanctuary in Birmingham

There was an amazing place in Lichfield, Staffs, near to where we live.

Tudor Tunes was perfect, just like High Fidelity, they had everything. But it closed down.

There’s a cool little place in Guildford called People Independent Music on Chapel Street. That has quite a good selection, and there’s Rough Trade of course.

But the little ones have always got some weird stuff

You can step into the shoes of your musical idol for 24 hours.
