Recognition for MK Museum


Milton Keynes Museum 
has joined an elite group of heritage organisations after being awarded Full Accreditation by Arts Council England.

The award is recognises the museum meeting a range of standards for managing its collections effectively for the enjoyment of visitors.

It is a key step towards 
ambitious plans for a 
£7.2million expansion of the museum, featuring two major new 
galleries telling the 
story of the area from 
pre-history through to the 
present day.

Museum director Bill Griffiths said: “This is a large site with a varied collection that we have got this far is amazing and a real tribute to our volunteers and to my deputy.

“Accreditation means we have reached a standard that confirms Milton Keynes Museum is capable of caring for our heritage. We are so proud of what we have achieved, but also want to acknowledge all the support we have received from the council, our partners, and especially from our visitors.”
