Collecting the cheque at the company’s Newport Pagnell-based Head Office, Ben Partridge, CEO of Children Today, which supports young people with a range of disabilities, praised everyone involved with the year-long fund-raising drive at the employee owned group.

He said: “This very significant sum of money represents a huge boost to the charity and the life-preserving, enabling and enhancing grants we make to children and young people for essential equipment and materials.

“We calculate that at least six people benefit from every grant we make - that’s over 1,000 people in total - because any improvement to the quality of life of a disabled child automatically benefits their families.”

The record sum of money – up over £10,000 on the previous year’s fund-raising efforts at Childbase Partnership – follows activities like sleeping rough in the company’s head office car park by over 100 nursery workers, managers and directors at the beginning of the year which raised more than £12,000.

Presenting the cheque Childbase head office charity representative, Rachel Jackson and Aimee Dowell, HR advisor, said the wonderful work carried out by Children Today had moved all 1,650 employee owners in the company-wide vote to choose a ‘Charity of the Year’ for a fund-raising drive.
