Record number of applications received for secondary school places in Milton Keynes
More pupils than ever will be moving to secondary school in Milton Keynes in September 2017 after a record number of applications were received.
Almost 3,400 applications were made to the council, with 96.8% gaining one of their top four preference schools.
“We have a rapidly growing population in Milton Keynes with more children and young people than ever attending our schools,” said Councillor Zoe Nolan, Cabinet Member for Children and Families.
“We are committed to offering a good school place for every child close to where they live. I am pleased to see that once again the council’s sound school place planning system has meant that no child will go without a school place in MK.”
Of the applications received, 84.7% of pupils received their first preference school. 7.4% of pupils received their second preference, 2.9% received their third preference school and 2% were allocated their fourth preference school.
A small number of late applications were received, which will be processed during April. Parents who still need to make an application should complete a late application form which is available on the council’s website at www.milton-keynes.gov.uk/schooladmissions
