RESULTS: Webber Independent School ‘delighted’

Months of hard work and dedication culminated in 100 per cent of students achieving at least 3 A*-E grades and 81 per cent A*-C grades (up an impressive 9 per cent on last year), with 42 per cent attaining the top A* and A grades.

While 95 per cent scored A-E at AS level , again with an excellent 7 per cent increase on last year’s results as the school continues to go from strength to strength as the number 1 performing school in the town from 2014-15.

The School’s high flying Head Girl, Alice Bailey, was over the moon with her 2 A*s in Spanish and Biology and an A in Physical Education, securing a position to study physiotherapy at Brunel University in London.

Alice, who has studied at the Webber Independent School since she was 6 years old said: “Oh my goodness I can’t quite believe it! I’m so happy.”

Mrs. Bailey was emotional when she said: “We are so proud of Alice. Thank you for all that you have done for her during her 11 years at the school.”

Head Boy, Tom Hulatt had a double reason to celebrate today as not only did he achieve an excellent set of grades AABB to study Aerospace Engineering also at Brunel, he has been awarded a substantial Bursary for Engineering Academic Excellence for the duration of his course.

James Baugh was also celebrating having achieved 2 A*s and an A grade - the result he needed to pursue his dream of studying Chemical Engineering at Bath University.

Mr. and Mrs. Baugh said: “The teachers have been so great with their support and have always been there when the students needed extra help”.

Speaking about the School’s performance, Principal Hilary Marsden said: “Congratulations to all our students collecting their results today.

“They have spent many months working with their teachers, as well as incredibly hard independently, to ensure they maximize their potential and although there have been challenges along the way they have triumphed.

“We are incredibly proud of our students’ performance and this truly reflects the dedication shown by our young people, supported by parents and of course the excellent staff here at the Webber.”

“I wish good luck to our Year 13’s progressing on to their universities of choice - I have no doubt they will continue to shine and make exceptional progress in their fields of study.

“And for our Year 12’s they must now maintain the momentum to ensure this time next year that too are on top of the world!”
