Reward to catch hedgehog abusers

The animal welfare charity Peta is offering a £1,000 reward to anyone who can help catch the four yobs who tortured a hedgehog on a city redway.

The three males and one female teenagers were kicking and throwing stones at the hedgehog on the redway under the H7 between Monkston and Middleton at about 10.40pm on Sunday, August 19.

When a member of the public confronted them, they attacked him with a wooden plank hitting him until it snapped.

"Animal abusers are cowards", says PETA spokesperson Will Wright. "They take their issues out on the most defenceless beings available to them.

Milton Keynes residents have good reason to be concerned.

"According to leading mental health professionals and the police, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat not only to other animals but also to the community as a whole."

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111, or Milton Keynes Police on 08458 505505.
