Ride High , the charity which helps the city’s most advantaged children raised £51,500 at its annual fundriaser, the black magic ball, last week.
Seventy disadvantaged children attend Ride High for two hours during term time each week and for activity sessions, trips, volunteering and work experience during the holidays.
Staff and volunteers achieve remarkable results by working with many of these children for the long term.
All find friends and many are helped out of severe depression and a sense of hopelessness. Using horse riding and associated clubroom activities staff and volunteers work through the structure of “The Ride High Award” to improve personal, social and emotional wellbeing, as well as their life and employability skills.
