Islamic art and culture was celebrated in a riot of colour at the weekend’s Art in the Park Festival.
Hundreds of people visited Campbell Park in Milton Keynes to see demonstrations by international artists, dancers, musicians and even chefs.
The event was a huge success, say the organisers.
“The aim of the group is to share Islamic arts, heritage and culture with the wider community through education,” says Alan Davey, chief executive of Arts Council England.
“We believe that the study of art and material culture transcends the ethnic, linguistic and religious division that plagues the modern world.
“We are winners of the Partnerships Award from Voluntary Arts England, which recognises excellent work. Our Islamic Art Banner project enables local art students from MK College to explore Islamic culture through contemporary and traditional art.”
