Robbers flee Milton Keynes store after member of staff picks up walking stick

Robbers were scared off by a walking stick as they tried to steal from a shop on Saturday night.

Two men had attempted to rob the Green Star General Store in Wadesmill Lane, Caldecotte at around 10.35pm on Saturday.

One of the men had placed two red plastic bags on the counter, while the second man reached towards his waist band when they targeted the shop.

A member of staff thought one of the attackers had a knife concealed in his waist band so picked up a walking stick stick, and the offenders fled the scene.

Nothing was stolen from the store.

There were no other customers in the shop at the time, but police believe that a man left the shop shortly before the attempted robbery.

The offenders may have also been speaking to two women walking a dog outside the shop shortly before the offence.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for these members of the public to come forward.

The first offender is white, of slim build, about 5ft 11in tall, clean shaven, and aged in his late teens or early twenties.

He was wearing a bright green hooded top with the hood pulled up over his hair.

The second offender is white, of slim build, about 5ft 6in tall, clean shaven, with a pointed nose, and aged in his late teens.

He was wearing a beige hooded top pulled up over his hair.
