FORMER city councillor Roger Bristow has become the first Honorary Freeman of West Bletchley.
Roger, who served as a Milton Keynes Councillor for over 25 years, was also Mayor of the city between 1989 and 1990.
West Bletchley Council bestowed the status of Honorary Freeman of the Parish of West Bletchley to Roger under new powers granted to it under the 2009 Local Democracy Act.
Roger served as a member of West Bletchley Council for seven years from when it was originally set up in 2001 until 2008.
The formal presentation to mark this event was held at the West Bletchley Council’s offices in Porchester Close earlier this month and a number of councillors paid tribute to the extensive contributions made by Roger to the parish throughout his years of dedicated service.
Chairman of West Bletchley Council, councillor Veronica Belcher, said: “It was a great pleasure to make this award to Roger to mark his enormous contribution to public service in the area.”
