A Milton Keynes businessman has won a national sailing trophy .
Technical director of Illuminis, Paul North, was in overall lead after the first two races on the opening day of the RS Vareo National Championship 2015 in North Wales last week.
He slipped back to fourth place following the second day. On the third day, disaster struck when the mast of Paul’s RS Vareo broke in heavy waves on the way to the start line.
Fished out of the sea by the rescue boat, Paul spent the first race assisting other sailors, before racing was abandoned.
Paul finished fifth overall and lifted The Masters Trophy for the highest place over 50 outside of the top four.
