Sainsbury's supports Carers Week in Milton Keynes

Sainsbury's in Central Milton Keynes is doing its bit to support Carers Week - by hosting awareness raising activities in store.

The nationwide annual event has been designed to help raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK.

Sainsbury’s has backed Carers Uk for the past six years.

The local arm, Carers MK, provides a range of support and information for unpaid carers in Milton Keynes.

The carers range in age from eight to 90 years old, and figures show there are more than 23,500 unpaid carers in Milton Keynes.

A carer is someone who provides unpaid support and care on a regular basis to a relative or friend who, due to frailty, illness or disability, would not be able to live independently without them.

“Many of our colleagues are carers and this is such an important event to inform our customers and colleagues about the help and support that is available in the local community in Milton Keynes,” said store manager Steve Martin.

Carers Week continues to Sunday.
