Youngsters at Southwood Junior School are starting the new term with more than just new shoes and a new uniform thanks to some hard working volunteers.

A team from city based company,, went back to school themselves last week to carry out much-needed maintenance work on the Conniburrow building, transforming some parts beyond recognition.

Armed with paintbrushes and garden spades, more than 30 members of staff from the UK headquarters of the company, a leading provider of ticketing solutions, spent the day working alongside teaching staff, getting the site in shape for the new term.

Elaine Hawkins, deputy headteacher at Southwood Junior School, said: “We are thrilled.

“The enthusiasm and hard work from the staff means that parts of the school look almost unrecognisable.”
