'˜Severed arm' floating in Milton Keynes canal prompts police investigation

City police are investigating reports of a severed arm floating in the canal at Wolverton.

A member of the public made the grisly find near the Galleon pub.

But police sent officers out to investigate and now believe the arm was “likely to be a prosthetic limb of some sort”.

In a Facebook posting on Saturday afternoon they said: “We have been alerted to a report on social media that a man spotted what he described as an arm floating in the Grand Union Canal near the Galleon pub in the Wolverton area.
“Officers are working on the understanding that it is likely to be a prosthetic limb of some sort and are currently in the area investigating the report.”

They added: “ Anyone with any concerns or information is asked to speak to the officers on duty or call 101 quoting ref 1479 16/12.”

The posting provoked some ’armless ribbing on Facebook, with users saying the arm was an obvious Halloween fake.

“Was it an armed response from police?” asked one user.

“Another said; “I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest this investigation is leaving TVP a little short-handed.”
