If you’ve been inspired by the colourful exhibits at this week’s Chelsea Flower Show then now’s the time to put those green fingers to work.
We’re calling on all gardeners to start digging deep for a chance to earn one of the coveted prizes in the Citizen backed Garden of the Year competition for 2013.
The competition, sponsored by Milton Keynes Council and Frosts Garden Centre, is hoping for a bumper crop of entries despite the unseasonally cold start to spring.
Categories include Best Large/Small Garden, Best Allotment, Best Community Garden, and Best Hanging Basket Floral Frontage.
And there will be a chance for school pupils to become even more creative with entries for Best School Container Garden.
Frosts Garden Centre at Woburn Sands is issuing schools with containers.
People can enter as many categories as they wish and entries are welcome from those with a range of gardening skill and experience.
Last year’s overall winners, Gordon and Rosemary Farr, clinched the top prize for their spectacular long narrow garden which held a ‘surprise around every corner’.
The couple, of Bletchley, also won the Best Large Back Garden category.
If you were inspired and think your green fingers can match their winning efforts now’s your chance to have a go.
