Singer Clem Curtis, 76, passes away
Clem Curtis, the singer who found fame with soul group The Foundations has passed away following a battle with cancer.
Clem, who had lived in Olney for many years, was the lead singer with the band on their chart-topping 1967 hit, Baby, Now That I’ve Found You. He left the band before the release of their famous Build Me Up Buttercup track, but went on to enjoy solo success, both for his singing, and for some acting roles.
He was a regular performer in the town, often showing out at Olney Wine Bar, and building dates at The Stables into his touring itinerary.
“Clem was a great character with a voice to match, and I was pleased to have been able to share the stage with him on many occasions,” said bass player Nick Jones. “He will be sorely missed.”
