Five-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Steve Redgrave will be swapping oars for skis when he gives lessons on skiing in Milton Keynes next month.
The event on October 5 at SNO!zone has been organised as part of the Slide2Sochi Olympic-themed road-show with the aim of getting more people involved in snow sports ahead of the upcoming Sochi Winter Games in 2014.
There are taster sessions for complete beginners or you can test yourself against the UK’s top skiers, Jess Anderson and Meg Riley, in the event which starts at 11am.
Buckinghamshire-born Sir Steve Redgrave, who is also a qualified skiing instructor, said: “I’ve always enjoyed skiing especially with the family. My three children love everything about the mountains.
“My eldest wants to go as fast as possible and has done some ski racing; my next daughter is the complete opposite, very stylish and sedate and my son loves snowboarding and tries to get as much air as possible.
“I am delighted to be part of this initiative to help introduce new people to snow sports and it’s also a great way to show our support for our winter Olympic team.”
