Special events for June diary

June will see The Cowper and Newton Museum in Olney provide space in the Three Hares Gallery for an exhibition of drawings of Canadian geese by Graeme Roach as well as space in the garden for an outdoor exhibition by Tania Groombridge.

The artists are exhibiting their work as part of Bucks Open Studio, when artists and makers open their doors to visitors and share their work and thoughts.

Mr Roach’s exhibition, Parklife, will be on display from Wednesday June 1 through to Saturday June 25.

Mr Groombridge will exhibit 0n Saturday June 11, Sunday 12, Thursday 16, Saturday 18, Friday 24 and Saturday 25.

The museum is also taking part on the Open Gardens Weekend for the National gardens Scheme from 10.30am to 4.40pm on Saturday June 11 and Sunday 12.

Admission to the gardens will be £3 for adults and free for children aged up to 6 years. The entrance fee supports wonderful causes, and since its foundation in 1927 the NGS has donated over £45 million to nursing and caring charities including Marie Curie and Carers Trust.

Plants and seeds harvested from the gardens will be available to purchase and tasty refreshments will be sold in the courtyard (all proceeds from plant sales and teas will go to the museum garden fund).

Admission to the museum in the Market Place itself is by separate entrance and the usual fee will apply.

A future date for the diary is Olney’s Cherry Fair on Saturday June 18.

The museum will be represented in St Peter and St Paul Church to tell visitors all about the museum’s interesting Poor Law Records project for 2016.
