FOR the majority of us, this will be an extended weekend, with the first Bank Holiday of the year rearing its head tomorrow....and a second on Monday!
And those of you who want to do something decidedly seasonal should seriously consider readying the motor, packing in the family and heading over to Wrest Park in Bedfordshire, to join England’s largest and longest running celebratory event for St George’s Day.
But though St George’s Day is Saturday, Wrest will celebrate with three days of fun through to Monday.
Gallant George, attired in shining armour and astride his noble steed, will be a sure and certain festival highlight, but there are plenty of other things to turn heads.
A kaleidoscope of thrilling period entertainment will offer a colourful look at England’s history, with various zones focussing on Roman, Medieval, Victorian and 1940s eras.
An authentic historic market will also be available to wander and there are plenty of other ways to while away a few hours, from a trip to the interactive dragon puppet theatre to a mock children’s battle.
The event, less than a mile from Silsoe off the A6, will run between 10am and 6pm daily.
Tickets: £14 for adults, £8.60 for children.
