Scotts of Thrapston are teaming up with the Milton Keynes charity that builds self-esteem and confidence in children by teaching them to ride and care for horses.

The team at Scotts will work in partnership with a group of young people from Ride High to transform a stable in their new premises in the centre of Milton Keynes. The site features a beautiful brick build courtyard dating back to the 1900s. Scotts designs and manufactures bespoke timber stables and accessories to complement period and listed buildings.

Last year Ride High took over a site now known as the Ride High Equestrian Centre. As well as it being the charity’s new permanent home, the riding school is also open to the public and all the profits will support the charity.

Rachel Medill, founder and CEO of Ride High, said: “We are thrilled to have the backing of Scotts of Thrapston. There is no better company to help transform and restore our courtyard to its former glory. Our children will learn so much from their involvement in the project and ultimately restoring the site will be welcomed by clients of the riding school and will therefore generate more profit for the charity.”

James Scott, managing director of Scotts, said: “We are thrilled to have this opportunity. I am sure both our installation team and the young people will learn new skills from working together on this project.”

Scotts has also committed to sponsoring two children to attend Ride High for one year.

Ride High supports children who face a variety of challenges that make everyday life a struggle. The children are disengaged and suffer from a severe lack of self-confidence, most are underperforming at, or not attending school. Ride High offers a unique and innovative approach to engage these children. Children attend Ride High for up to 12 months and by the time they leave over 90% are thriving in full-time school, college or work experience.
