Staff at Milton Keynes opticians dress as Where's Wally characters for Alzheimer's Society
A Milton Keynes opticians took on a new look to hold a charity book sale to raise funds and awareness for Alzheimer's Society.
Staff at Scrivens Opticians and Hearing Care at The Centre:MK dressed as Where’s Wally characters to mark World Book Day on Thursday, March 1.
The book sale, plus cookies and goody bags for customers will continue during the week and there is also a competition for children to design a book cover which will run until March 24, with the £1 entry fee going to the charity.
Branch manager Nina Oeksnebjerg said: “Alzheimer’s affects a growing number of people in our community and there is a real need for continued research and support. Our book sale is a chance for us to raise funds and awareness for a cause we care about.”
Scrivens is supporting Alzheimer’s Society for a fourth successive year after raising £35,000 last year. It was chosen because of the growing evidence of a link between uncorrected hearing loss and dementia, including Alzheimer’s.
