FOUR people have been arrested following UK Border Agency raids in the city centre.
Acting on intelligence, and with the full co-operation of management, officers visited thecentre:mk on Sunday, December 12 to carry out checks on staff working on stalls.
At the first of these, Premier Dead Sea, a 29-year-old Israeli man was arrested for being in the UK illegally after his visa expired.
At the Natural Wood stall a 23-year-old Pakistani man was arrested for working in breach of his visa conditions.
And a the third, Herstyler, a 22-year-old Israeli man was arrested for working in breach of his visa conditions, while a 22-year-old Israeli woman was arrested for being in the UK after her visa had expired.
All four were detained and now await removal from the UK.
The employers of the four illegal immigrants now face fines of up to £10,000 per person unless they can prove to the UK Border Agency that the correct right-to-work checks were carried out.
Deputy director Maria Leon from the UK Border Agency said: “It is the legal responsibility of all employers to check that employees have the right to work in the UK.”
