FAMOUS Sky News presenter Stephen Dixon has told how he moved to Milton Keynes from a luxury life in London – just so he could adopt a scruffy and unwanted Citikat.

The Sunrise anchorman is now happily living in with black and white moggie Timmy, who he picked out from dozens of strays at the RSPCA’s Newport Pagnell cattery.

“It was love at first sight!” he said. “Timmy came up to me, purred and wound himself round my legs and I knew he was the one.”

Cat-loving Stephen had been living in an apartment in the prestigious Canary Wharf development, conveniently close to his job at the Sky studios.

“But all I wanted was a home with a garden so I could have a cat. I didn’t think it would be fair to have a cat in an apartment,” he told the Citizen.

He picked out the purr-fect house in Milton Keynes then heard about the Citizen’s regular Citikat column, which highlights the RSPCA cats most in need of homes.

“I went to the cattery and it was incredible. There were all these wonderful cats, desperate for attention and desperate for a home.”

Four-year-old Timmy, who had a history of neglect from his previous owner, is now living a life of luxury.

“He loves playing in the garden and he loves sitting on my lap in the evenings. And I’m ashamed to say that, despite my best intentions, he’s already sleeping in my bed.”

Stephen has now vowed to help the RSPCA launch its new lottery, which has prizes of up to £25,000 for tickets costing £1 each.
