Storm Imogen's fierce winds cause building damage

Crews from Broughton and Great Holm used a turntable ladder to climb up the side of a six-storey block of flats in Huntley Crescent, Campbell Park.

A fire service spokesman said the galvanised guttering was in “precarious position” when they arrived at 11.20am this morning.

Firefighters handed over the incident to the building’s caretaker.

It follows 100mph winds and heavy rain across Britain today as Storm Imogen battered southern parts of the country and left commuters braced for havoc on the transport networks.
