Students spread Christmas cheer with hampers

Kind-hearted youngsters at Stantonbury Campus have continued the school’s proud tradition of sharing donations of food and other goodies from generous students, parents and staff with nearby elderly residents this term.

The tradition began more than 20 years ago and it looks set to continue as the recipients of this year’s hampers were very pleased to have been thought of.

Upon receiving her gift, Rosaline Hughes said: “I had been feeling a bit down because of all the bad news on the television at the moment. There was an unexpected knock at the door and I opened it to a sea of smiling faces. It made me realise it’s not all bad. It has made my Christmas receiving the hamper and it’s very much appreciated.”

Melissa Cooper, community home visitor at Age UK Milton Keynes, added: “We are delighted that Stantonbury Campus students are being encouraged to support the older people in their community. It’s fantastic to know young people are thinking of them at this time of year and residents really do appreciate it.”
