Superfast fibre broadband is being rolled out to an additional 1,143 homes in Wolverton, it has been announced today.
Milton Keynes Council is investing £2.7million into providing the new fibre infrastructure.
Around 86 per cent of premises already have access to superfast fibre broadband, but that is expected to increase to 98 per cent within the next two years.
The council has committed to eventually reach all premises across the borough.
Councillor Rob Middleton, Cabinet Member for Resources and Commercialism, said: “The way we live our lives is changing rapidly.
“More of us are working from home, increasingly our children are learning online, and we are enjoying the ever expanding choice of TV, films and media now available over the internet.
“The Council’s continued investment in rolling out superfast fibre broadband throughout MK, including this upgrade in Wolverton, makes all of these things quicker, easier and more convenient.”
Future superfast fibre broadband plans including a postcode checker and map of ‘where and when’ areas are being upgraded can be viewed at www.milton-keynes.gov.uk.
