Superheroes to star on the MK Marathon start line

There will be hundreds in fancy dress at the MK Marathon but everyone who competes will be a Superhero according to the organisers.

The second MK Marathon takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6, but for those who aren’t quite ready for the 26.2 mile course, a smaller 1.5 mile circuit has been designed for everyone to take part.

Sponsored by local childcare provider Acorn Childcare, the Superhero Fun Run offers the opportunity for some gentler exercise with the opportunity for runners or walkers of all ages and abilities to complete and cross the finish line inside stadium:mk ahead of the Marathon runners still out on the course.

“Anyone who can run 26.2 miles is a Superhero,” said Race Director Andrew Hully. “All our competitors from World Record holders to Fun Runners should be admired for their commitment.

“But this year we have some special younger Superheroes setting off in their own shorter event after the marathon runners have set off.

“The Fun Run is a great way for everyone to be involved. You can enter in advance or on the day and we hope to have plenty of Superheroes in fancy dress!”

Among those lining up on Monday to take part is new world record holder Stephen Richardson, who broke the marathon record for being dressed like a sailor (see link below).

You can still enter the MK Marathon until Tuesday April 30. Visit

Entries to the Superhero Fun Run will be accepted until 9.30am on race day - Monday May 6.
