RESIDENTS and regulars at The Swan Pub in Milton Keynes Village got the best Christmas present ever – their beloved pub back open.
On Friday, just over two weeks after a fire devastated the building, manager Tyrone Bentham and his team were open for business again.
Tyrone said: “We have had so much support from people. You don’t realise how much there is until something like this happens. There are so many people to thank including our customers, the builders and Charles Wells. Without all of their help this wouldn’t have been possible.”
People had been working around the clock to get the pub re-opened in time for Christmas and the result was described by Tyrone as ‘something out of a Disney movie’.
He said: “All of our decorations were lost in the fire so we asked people to bring theirs in to help decorate. It helps to give them that personal feeling when they come in.
“When the fire happened, as heart wrenching as it was, we didn’t want to let our customers down, we wanted to be able to honour our Christmas bookings. From now on we will be trading to full capacity and we want our customers to know we won’t be handicapped in any way.”
