There are still FOUR taxi drivers on our city roads who are a “cause for concern” – despite the fact they were identified by MK Council in August.
A review into drivers with declared convictions was undertaken after it emerged rapist Nadeem Kiani – who had four convictions for serious sexual offences – had been a city cabbie for three years.
It found a further seven individuals were of concern and they were to be interviewed by the council which would decide their fate.
Since then, two drivers have surrendered their plates, but another driver who appeared before the regulatory sub committee last week has held on to his licence.
Two other drivers due to attend the same meeting were unavailable to attend.
They have been given one more opportunity to either attend in person or submit written representations, but either way the matter will be decided on the second date offered.
Two drivers were due before the committee last night, with a further two expected on October 1.
The council would not reveal their previous offences, but said they are “not as serious” as those for which Mr Kiani was convicted.
